For dinner Friday I made mjaddarah (using this recipe), hummus (using this recipe and the food processor Adam left in our basement), sauteed swiss chard, cucumber slices, and naan (using this AMAZING recipe. You should all go make naan right now. It was that good. Though, I used a griddle instead of the grill. I’m not a grill kinda girl.)
Saturday we went blueberry picking, and leftovers from dinner got tucked into the picnic basket the kiddo usually uses to hold his play food. Fresh blueberries and cold homemade mezza. Best leftovers ever.

Child labor or family outing? It's a fine line.

The haul this time? Eighteen pounds of berries. I got smart, though, and did some research and found I could freeze the berries now and make jam whenever I have the time. So we now have seven batches of berries ready for jam, tucked into the freezer. (And more frozen and marked to be used in waffles, etc.) Which is to say, stay tuned for more jam-making adventures.

oh wow - i forgot how big west coast blueberries are! the ones out in newfoundland are tiny - about one third the size and bursting with flavour. it means you need to pick a lot more to make your bucket seem full.
