I live in California... let me tell you that there is no comparison between cherimoyas bought in the store and cherimoyas bought at a farmers market. Those that are bought in the grocery store have been refrigerated which halts the ripening process resulting in particularly tasteless fruit.
Cherimoyas are one of the best tasting fruits there are, if properly stored (un-refrigerated) before it is consumed.

just my 2¢ ;-)

Although I love most things vegan, I think I just need ham in my split pea soup. Split pea w ham is a comfort food for me more than chicken noodle. But for the record, I used a box of vegetable stock plus water to make up for the difference (because I usually use bullion cubes, but Whole Foods didn't have those, and I wasn't thinking about how much stock I'd need to buy, and water's free). I think it was 1 1/2 c onion, 1/2 c carrots, 1/2 c celery. But I could be wrong.

Vegan split pea can be delicious. (Just ask Adam, who has sampled mine.) How many onions does the recipe call for? Maybe you need more onions in there. And carrots. And what did you use for the stock?
