Red Hook Food Movie Flash

UPDATE, THURSDAY, 7PM: It looks like the movie may be rained out, but I’m awaiting confirmation.

Reader Amy H., tireless aggregator of everything worth knowing in this corner of southwest Brooklyn, wrote to tip us off to an interesting screening at the Red Hook Summer Film Festival, this Thursday, July 23, at 8pm at the site of the Red Hook Farmer’s Market:

This week we have FRESH, the Movie.

This is a documentary, [* well... see below. - ap.] but it’s perfect for all of us foodies, locavores, gardeners and anyone generally interested in providing the best they can for their families.

UPDATE: Not only will the event be BYO, but there will be FREE RONNYBROOK ICE CREAM! No word on whether the orgainzers will screen to make sure your beer is locally brewed or your wine is biodynamic…

Ooh, Sahadi’s, or, Week Six: Overbudget Again

Now why would a guy who’s so notoriously averse to waiting in line that, even when he has the money to pay for them, he eschews and pooh-poohs Brooklyn’s It restaurants in favor or places where he can get seated quickly? For one thing, because the line moves quickly, past signs reading “No Smile, No Service,” and, “Of course, I’m in shape. Round is a shape.” For another, because this swift queue belongs to Brooklyn’s own Sahadi’s.
